Founded in 1982, Toa Re America operated as a strategic partner of The Mercantile & General Reinsurance Company of America from inception until Mercantile & General's 1997 purchase by The Toa Reinsurance Company, Ltd.
With offices located in Morristown New Jersey and Toronto Ontario Toa Re America provides facultative, program and treaty reinsurance products largely through reinsurance brokers. Toa Re America is the principal overseas subsidiary of the The Toa Reinsurance Company, Ltd. of Tokyo, Japan (Toa Tokyo).
